Spaceman Statues, Ball Dresses and Valet Stand
Nigel Havers presides as five sellers aim to get the best price for their items, including a valet stand, ball dresses, a carved chest, pillboxes and spaceman statues.
Nigel Havers welcomes five more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.
First in today are Bill and Trish with a 1960s valet stand. The couple are hoping the stand will serve them well, as it is still in good condition and has a multitude of possible uses. Moses and JB specialise in similar items, so it would be wise to target them in the room.
Next in is Patricia, with two ball dresses from the early 1970s. After she bought them for her university ball, they were only worn once and have hung in her wardrobe ever since. One was designed by Gina Fratini and the other by Jean Varon. Both are still relevant in today鈥檚 market. Patricia is hoping to sell them on to someone who will give them a new lease of life - will any of our dealers be that person?
Sophie and Cat are next to face the dealers, with a rather large flea market find - a carved Chinese camphorwood chest that they just couldn鈥檛 leave behind. Will any of the dealers be drawn towards it?
Next into Edinburgh HQ is Jack, with a charming collection of cloisonn茅 pillboxes. A keen collector of the unusual, Jack is hoping the dealers will bid big so he can head back out to the charity shops for some new finds.
Last up today is Phillip, with a couple of statues that are out of this world. His golden spaceman statues were made as part of a campaign by Omega in 2019 and were never released on the market. They could appeal to many buyers, so Phillip might be hoping for some astronomical bids today.
The dealers are Estelle, JB, Ian, Moses and Lucy.
