Chapter 3: Autumn

It鈥檚 autumn, and the mountains are a kaleidoscope of colour. Under the waters, rare treasures are revealed, while up above, the dark skies bring celestial wonders.

The landscape is a kaleidoscope of colour. Sean and his guide dog Bennie are climbing Bessy Bell, following the footsteps of many to the holy well, whose waters are reputed to have the power to heal.

On the black bog, peatland officer Rory is delighted to be getting a helping hand for major restoration works as the contracters move in. Nearby, the rivers are home to an ancient protected species, and Bryan has secured special permission to observe the pearl mussels.

In the woodlands, it鈥檚 spider season. Insect lover Dakota is back with her camera to see what she can observe in the webs amongst the trees.

A calm autumn evening means that Lynne and her pilot husband can enjoy the Sperrins from the air. Bangor-born Lynne has no regrets about moving to the country to raise her family, embracing new adventures.

At Lissan Estate, volunteer Pat is enjoying the autumn colours of the ancient woodlands, unaware that all the volunteers have gathered to surprise her for a very special birthday.

For stargazer Martin, the search for cosmic events continues, and this time he is hoping that all the stars align and the skies clear, so he can view a comet that he has been waiting years to see.

Halloween celebrations are in full swing, and at Butterlope Farm, Annie and the social farmers gather in the autumn harvest. It has been a busy season for the farmers, so after work, Nathan takes some time out to enjoy the mountain lakes. The Rylagh Limekiln has been reignited, and Sean and his walking group gather together to celebrate Samhain by the fire.
