Wolsingham 5
Eric Knowles learns about the 18th-century writer who ignited the fight for women’s rights. At the antiques fair, experts Irita Marriott and Colin Young lead the red and blue teams.
What do Frankenstein’s monster and the suffragette movement have in common? The answer is pioneering feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. Eric Knowles visits her childhood home in the East Yorkshire town of Beverley and learns how Wollstonecraft was not only Mary Shelley’s mother; she was also the 'original suffragette'.
Ahead of the auction in Beverley, two teams of siblings shop for profitable bargains at an antiques fair in the dales of County Durham, with their experts Irita Marriott and Colin Young. Irita’s team are twins Simran and Satpal, while Colin guides sisters Julia and Catherine.
Under damp skies, the reds make two early purchases, but their shop ends with a last-minute dash across the fair. Over with the blues, the twins keep Irita on her toes with an audacious big spend, but does their gamble pay off at Caroline Hawley’s auction?
