Jonathan Dimbleby travels to South America to report on dramatic changes in one of the world's least understood continents.

Jonathan Dimbleby first reported from South America over 30 years ago. Since then the continent has witnessed dramatic change. But for 400 million South Americans it is home: a vital source of political, social and economic progress in a rapidly changing world. Thirty years ago, South America was regarded by the White House as being the USA's 'backyard'. That was in the Cold War. In the age of globalisation, South America can make its own way and is doing so.
