Reclaiming the Rock
For decades the Anangu people of central Australia have been asking visitors not to climb Uluru. From October 2019 the chain that makes the climb possible will be removed.
Tourists from all over the world visit Uluru every year, but for decades there has been a dispute over the controversial practice of climbing the rock - which is a sacred place for Australia's indigenous Anangu people. From the end of 2019 the chain that makes the climb possible will finally be removed. As the 大象传媒's Rebecca Henschke reports, it is a vital step for the Anangu people in reclaiming the rock.
