• About Us

  Every week, Andrew Marston tears up the playlist and the airwaves are full of new music. There is only one qualification - it has to be from Herefordshire or Worcestershire.

  The programme was launched in June 2005 with huge interest, helping pave the way to the format being launched across the whole of 大象传媒 Local Radio. In the last decade, we've received in excess of 15,000 tracks from our area alone.

• Andrew Marston

  Andrew fell in love with music at primary school, learning how to play keyboards and piano and started gigging in several groups. His first 'proper' job was church organist at St Barnabas, in Hereford, while touring the country in his brother's band. At the age of 14, Andrew landed his first DJ residency at a Hereford nightclub.

  Andrew was also a volunteer at Hereford Hospital Radio, presenting a news-based show and served on the committee. In 2000, he won a BT Non-Music Programme Of The Year award having spent four years at the organisation.

  In 2005, Andrew was given his own show on the 大象传媒, becoming the first person to discover and give airtime to artists such as Ellie Goulding, Becky Hill and Peace.

  Andrew was also responsible for taking Sam Isaac to the Glastonbury Festival and the 大象传媒 Electric Proms, Pencil Toes, Luke Leighfield,听The Anomalies and Pegasus Bridge to 大象传媒 Maida Vale (and Radio听1's Big Weekend), while securing the brother/sister duo Muchuu support slot with Florence & The Machine and a spot on听the 大象传媒 Radio 1 playlist. Other Radio 1 successes听include Riscas and Lauren Wright, while FREnchfire,听Georgina Upton, Kamos & Tripbuk and Scarlette听Says ended up on the 大象传媒 1Xtra playlist.听He also landed The Roving Crows a place on听tour with Jamie Cullum, AKA George two听spots on the Radio 1 playlist, as well as a听place on stage at Glastonbury and听Radio 2鈥檚 Live in Hyde Park.听He also championed Cherryshoes to听T In The Park, S艙ur to Reading +听Leeds plus Remi Harris to the听Montreal Jazz Festival.

  As an active musician, Andrew's toured with rappers, saxophonists and percussionists, while playing live keys to create new interesting mashups of well-known songs. He's also produced a number of dance tracks with musicians he's met during his career - including Nigel Clark of Dodgy - many of which are featured in his club sets.

  All artists will be considered for airplay and live sessions, with the very best forwarded to our Introducing partners at 大象传媒 Radio 1, 大象传媒 Radio 1Xtra, 大象传媒 Radio 2, 大象传媒 Radio 3, 大象传媒 Radio 6 Music and 大象传媒 Asian Network.

  A selection will also be chosen for our annual stages at Hay, Wychwood, Nozstock, Lakefest, Worcester Music Festival, SXSW, T In The Park, Montreal Jazz Festival, The Great Escape, Radio 1's Big Weekend, The Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds.
