´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon's Star for Christmas 2016
´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon is celebrating the role that school choirs play inÌýmaking Christmas special for us all.
We are looking for the county’s best Primary School choir to join us at our Carol Service at St Andrews Church in PlymouthÌýon 15th December, withÌýthe recordingÌýplayed on Christmas Day.

The deadline for getting your song to us is 7th November.Ìý Once all the songs are in a panel of judges will narrow them down to a shortlistÌýand played out on air.Ìý ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon listeners will be asked to vote for their favourite and theÌýwinner will be announced by Simon Bates in the breakfast show on the 2nd December.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon Star for Christmas Competition 2016Ìý Terms and Conditions
Ìý1. The competition is open to all schools of primary age children in the county of Devon. The children of ´óÏó´«Ã½ employees, or those of anyone connected with the competition cannot be part of the school’s entry. Student participation in any stage of the competition will require parental or guardian consent which will be the responsibility of the entrant school. Proof of age, identity, digital image consent and eligibility may be required.Ìý
2. The competition will open on September 26th 2016. All entries will need to have been submitted by 16.00 on 7th November 2016. Entries outside of the period will not count.Ìý
3. Ìý The school must create an mp3 file of the choir singing a Christmas carol or Christmas song and email the file to the following email address:
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý starforchristmas@bbc.co.uk
ÌýThe audio file must be accompanied by a completed entry form to be an eligible entry along with a picture of the choir or school which can be used online.ÌýÌý
No other method of entry will be accepted. Only one entry is allowed per school (the first, any subsequent entries will be disregarded).ÌýÌý
The choir must be accompanied by live music which can be performed at our Christmas Day Service recording at St Andrews Church, Plymouth on 15th December 2016.Ìý
4.ÌýÌý The entries will be listened to and marked using the criteria below by a panel including a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon presenter and a senior editorial person -
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý technical skill,
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý musicality, and
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý energy of performance.
The panel will produce a shortlist of 8 entries plus several ranked back-ups.
5.ÌýÌý The 8 finalist choirs will be contacted to check eligibility and availability which may include discussions on licensing and parental permissions. If one of the 8 finalist choirs is not available or eligible then the next best back-up will be contacted, until a list of 8 verified and checked finalist choirs is completed. A public online vote will run from 28th November 2016 – 1st December 2016.Ìý With the winning Choir announced on Friday 2nd December 2016.Ìý Vote terms will be published separately prior to the vote.
6.ÌýÌý Entrants must be available via the contact information they have provided. If, after reasonable attempts an entrant cannot be contacted, that entrant’s participation in the competition ends. ÌýIf an entrant cannot take up the prize as stated, then that entrant’s participation in the competition ends.ÌýÌý
7. The Prize consists of the opportunity for the choir to sing their winning song at the Christmas Service on 15th December 2016 at St Andrews Church, Plymouth. Ìý(Service 19.00 – 20.30) It is expected that the concert will be broadcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon during the morning of 25th December 2016. For the avoidance of doubt no travel, accommodation or any other expenses will be covered by the ´óÏó´«Ã½.ÌýÌý
8. The prize is stated as above. There is no cash alternative and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances.Ìý
9. The ´óÏó´«Ã½'s decision as to entrants taking part and winner is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.ÌýÌý
10. Entrants agree to take part in any post-competition publicity if required; this may include TV and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Devon social media.Ìý The ´óÏó´«Ã½ will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition or otherwise in accordance with the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Privacy Policy - Please see the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Privacy Policy: : Ìý Please be aware that sending personal data by email may not be secure as email messages can be intercepted.
11. Entrants retain the copyright in their original submissions but grant to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ a perpetual non-exclusive royalty-free licence to broadcast their entry across all media, use it on any online platform as part of any ´óÏó´«Ã½ programme or service and in exploitation of such programme or service. For the avoidance of doubt, no fees or expenses will be paid for the creation of any part of the entry.
12. Entrants permit the ´óÏó´«Ã½ to edit or change entries in any way it may, in its sole discretion, consider necessary for the purposes of use in the competition.

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ reserves the right to: (i) amend these terms and conditions and vary the competition rules including but not limited to the opening and closing times; (ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules, displays rude, insulting or inappropriate behaviour at any point (including prize fulfilment) or has acted fraudulently in any way or; (iii) cancel the competition, at any stage, if in its opinion it is deemed necessary or if circumstances arise outside its control.
15. The ´óÏó´«Ã½, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure, loss of data via use of a third party email platform or malfunction or any other problem which may result in any loss or data, any entry being lost or not properly registered.
16. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when registering.
17. The competition is run by the ´óÏó´«Ã½. The applicable law is that of England and Wales.
