Angels and Demons

Tom Hanks returns this week as Professor Robert Langdon in Angels & Demons - the second big screen adaptation of Dan Brown's series of best-selling novels about the Symbologist adventurer. Antonia Quirke tells us whether it is worth watching.

Trinidad Noir

How a hard-boiled crime genre associated with gum-shoe detectives and femme fatales has been transposed to the sunny Caribbean island of Trinidad.

Mantra

An ambitious new project aims to unite the early Indian and Portugese music of 16th Century Goa. The Orlando Consort and some of Britain's best Asian musicians are uniting for a series of concerts that will re-trace the links between the music of the early Portugese missionaries and the native Indians of the 1500s. Mark meets up with some of the members of this ensemble. For tour dates see below.

Elias Sime

Ethiopian artist Elias Sime has recently stormed the hearts and minds of an unsuspecting public in Los Angeles. Eye of the Needle Eye of the Heart is his first survey exhibition in the United States. It is co-curated by Peter Sellars, the multi-disciplinary opera director who recently borrowed his artwork for a production at Los Angeles' Opera. Laura Hubber discovers the artist's work and hears why Sellars is such a fan.
