Lang Lang

In this special edition of The Strand - a musician who has topped the charts, travelled the world and inspired millions of children to take up the piano. One of classical music's biggest stars - Lang Lang illustrates his remarkable personal journey with some of the music that meant the most to him.

He talks to Mark Coles about how the cartoon Tom and Jerry inspired him to take up the piano and how imagining the composer Franz Liszt as Elvis Presley, and Mozart playing in a playground has improved his performance.

His latest CD release Chopin: The Piano Concertos is released on Deutsche Grammophon, and his autobiography Lang Lang - Journey of a Thousand Miles is out now.
