Desert gazelle
The Chinkara (Indian gazelle) lives in the driest regions of the Thar Desert in India, and can survive without drinking. It gets all the water it needs from dew and its food. Various shots of gazelles on sand dunes. Unusually, there are high numbers of desert wildlife, including chinkara, near the homes of a desert people: the Bishnoi. These people are strict vegetarians and forbidden to harm any living thing. They therefore protect the local wildlife and try to prevent them coming to harm. Valmik Thapar in a Bishnoi village talks about a Bishnoi man who was shot and died while saving chinkara gazelles from poachers.
