What was in the news today that sparked the attention of Jim’s listeners? This morning’s show was full of the usual fascinating mix but one story really had the phones buzzing and the texts and twitters flying in.

Britain's first Asian judge, Sir Mota Singh, has said Sikhs should be allowed to wear the ceremonial dagger, known as the Kirpan, in public places, including schools. Wow! What an amazing reaction, virtually all negative – but could this come from a lack of education? What is a Kirpan and why’s it so important to baptised Sikhs? Councillor Kuldip Sahota and Bupinda Singh, a young baptised Sikh from Birmingham, went on air to put their side of the argument.
