Isn’t the internet brilliant? But when your kids are using it to play games or help with their homework are you confident that they’re safe? Clearly this is a concern touching a lot of families now.
This morning Jim heard Sarah Bayliss’ story; she’s a School Governor at St John The Baptist School, Ruyton X1 Towns, who’s very worried having come across shocking, if not illegal, content on a Facebook site. Hayley – a young mum who thought she was doing everything to protect her children – then contacted the show. She and other parents said that their kids were easily stumbling across very inappropriate websites.
Could Detective Superintendent Martin Lakeman of West Mercia police reassure them? This is Internet Safety Awareness Week and he spelt out some top safety tips which he’d already used in his family life to help keep kids safe online.
Once a week Jim sets off in his big red coat to spend time on a bench … this afternoon in St Alkmund's Square, Shrewsbury. He never knows who might join him - you’ll hear on Friday’s show.
