About Mark
Mark was born in Manchester but moved to the north east of England when he was four. His earliest memory of this was falling off his go-kart and cracking his head open on moving day....ouch!
He came to Nottingham in the late 1980s to study humanities (that's right - he couldn't decide what to do, so chose a mish-mash of subjects) at Nottingham Trent. It was here that a passion for radio was ignited.
Mark worked voluntarily for Nottingham Hospitals Radio. His big break came in the early 1990s, when some weekend work/holiday cover came up at TFM radio in the north east and later at Trent FM in Nottingham.Â
After graduating, Mark's radio career took him back to the north east, then to Yorkshire and back to Nottingham in 1996. He stayed at Trent FM until 2010, when he joined the ´óÏó´«Ã½.
Mark loves to take the show out on the road; outside broadcasts include a week-long trip along the Trent and the canals by boat, exploring Nottinghamshire by caravan and a live show from Sarajevo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Torvil and Dean’s Olympic triumph.
Mark is married to the legendary 'Mrs D', who works for the NHS. They have a son and a daughter, plus a Labrador called Oscar.
Mark's interests include cooking, playing squash and cycling – he’s taken part in several charity rides, including London to Paris, 100 miles in a day around London in 2015, and the Great Notts Bike Ride.
Also, Mark is a keen Forest fan - he attends most home games and does the stadium announcements on match days.
