An Evening of Ulster Scots
To mark the birth of Robert Burns, Kerry Turner presents an evening of music, song, dance and poetry all with a very particular Ulster-Scots and Scottish flavour.
In this Burns Night Special, Kerry Turner presents a number of pieces with a strong Ulster-Scots flavour. Burns and Beyond is an Ulster-Scots concert featuring Eddi Reader and the Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band. 'The Herrin's Heid' is performed by children from Balnamore Primary School; and then we catch up with Mark Thompson and Charlie Gillen - 'Twa Lads o Pairts' who discuss how Ulster-Scots features in their lives. Poet James Fenton is 'on Slemish' - and we are off on tour with the Ulster-Scots as they attend a festival in Italy and another in Nice. The evening concludes with a traditional Burns Night and the address to the haggis.
