Winter sun seekers

Bill Oddie has stopped off at Martin's Mere in Lancashire to see some wild swans. They have migrated here from Iceland - an 800km non-stop flight, day and night, at speeds reaching 100kph. It might be cold to Bill, but to the swans a British winter is warm. In Iceland, the ground is frozen now, so they wouldn't be able to get any food. To help the swans, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust puts out extra food for them. Bill helps with this, taking a wheelbarrow of grain down to the lake shore. The grain is thrown on to the shore and into the water. It's strange how wild birds become tame when there is free food on offer! Swans feeding - a lovely sight and lovely sounds to end a lovely day.
