Putting your work online is a great way to promote your talent, but the freedom of the internet can be a hindrance as well as a help, especially when it comes to protecting copyright. Photography student, Laura Jade, found out the hard way about copyright infringement. One of her pictures was illegally used to promote a pornographic DVD on sale in the USA. It had been downloaded from her own website. She now takes more precautions to protect her pictures, but it is difficult to strike a balance between the attention she wants to attract via the web, and the accompanying risks to be avoided.
