What is Fugue?
Charles Hazlewood and the 大象传媒 Concert Orchestra examine fugues by Mozart, Elgar and Britten. All three were inspired by the master of the fugue, JS Bach, to create their own masterpieces.
"What is 'Fugue'?!" Charles Hazlewood poses the question in the first of two programmes exploring this mysterious art. Charles and the 大象传媒 Concert Orchestra examine fugues by three composers who were inspired by the genius of fugue himself, JS Bach. Mozart, Elgar and Britten all used the technique to create their own masterpieces, years after Bach's death. The programme culminates in a performance of Britten's Prelude and Fugue for String Orchestra.
