Festo's Air Rays
In Germany, engineers working at technology lab Festo have taken inspiration from the natural world and developed a fin ray technology of their own, inspired by the graceful manta ray.
When the fin ray is attached to a plastic skeleton and contained in an inflated silver helium balloon, it can be flown by remote control. Two people are needed to control the movements of the air ray as it gracefully flies through the air.
