Windy Bubbles

´óÏó´«Ã½ weatherman and Gardeners’ Question Time host Peter Gibbs uses a simple bubble machine to reveal the movement of wind across the garden and its effect on plants, and introduces Carol to thigmomorphogenesis, a growth response by plants to wind, rain and touch. Botanists discovered in the 1970s that regular rubbing or bending of stems by wind and rain inhibited their elongation and resulted in shorter, stockier plants.
