Increases in the cost of gas and electricity are forcing families in Lancashire to cut back on spending.

Earlier this month, one of the big energy providers, British Gas, announced an 18% increase in gas prices, while yesterday its parent company Centrica posted profits of 拢1.3bn for the past six months.

Some local people said they were struggling to make ends meet.
