More than 100 of the grates have been taken from roads in east Lancashire in recent weeks. They're taken because of the value of the metal, and it's estimated the missing grates would be worth around 拢30,000.

Highways engineers have been replacing them as quickly as possible once they are reported, but they're warning that until the covers are replaced, the holes pose a serious danger to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
