Catholic children practice for their First Holy Communion
Three children from St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School in Chipping, Lancashire, practise for their First Holy Communion. At the heart of the Catholic faith is the Eucharist in which Catholics believe bread and wine actually become the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Here, local parents helping with the children's Catholic instruction allow the children to taste bread and wine that has not been blessed by the priest. When the children actually make their First Holy Communion, it will be very different; the priest will have blessed the bread and wine and Catholics believe Christ will enter each one of them.
