Babies who are left to cry are still stressed and unhappy for days after. That's according to a new study which has measured levels of the stress hormone cortisol in babies who were soothed by their parents and those who were left to cry themselves to sleep.
The same stress hormone was measured in the mums as well and those mums whose babies had been left to cry and finally dropped off, were feeling much calmer as soon as the crying stopped.
