Healthcare regulator, the Care Quality Commission, has said that more than a quarter of hospitals and care homes in England aren't delivering the service they should be. Inspectors who carried out unannounced checks found problems with quality and safety standards including the mismanagement of medicines, staffing numbers and record keeping. The Health Minister Simon Burns says there is no excuse for delivering anything but the best care.
