Hatfield has been chosen in the second round of Mary Portas Pilots to be given money to help revive its high street. 15 more towns have been announced today after 12 were given the chance to receive the Portas touch back in May, including Bedford.
They're getting a share of 拢1.2million which will be used to encourage more visitors at a time when empty shops, the internet and the recession are all heaping pressure on the high street.
Fundamentally, there's one thing that would improve the fortunes of our local high street - us spending more money there.
