Funeral of PC Ian Dibell takes place

The funeral of a police officer, who was shot dead trying to stop a gunman in Clacton, has taken place this afternoon. PC Ian Dibell was off duty when he was fatally wounded on 9th July.

In the news hour from 5pm, the funeral of police officer Ian Dibell, shot dead near his home in Clacton, has taken place this afternoon. It's thought the 41 year old was killed when he intervened after shots were fired in a dispute between neighbours. Gunman, Peter Reeve, was found dead the following morning in a church in Writtle near Chelmsford. Foz speaks to our reporter James Melley who was at Weeley Crematorium.

As the controversy over Beccles Free School rolls on, former Labour MP for Waveney, Bob Blizzard, tells Foz he thinks the whole idea is a waste of money.

Around 30 jobs look set to go at a scientific firm in North Suffolk. In total nearly 100 jobs could be lost at Huntingdon Life Sciences. The company has been in the spotlight in the past as a target for animal rights protestors. Foz gets the details from our reporter Linda Walker.

In the first hour, rock band 10cc are preparing for their 40th anniversary tour which includes a date at the Ipswich Regent. They have a box set coming out as part of the celebrations and it includes a DVD comprising many of their TV appearances during the glory years of the 1970s. Foz speaks to founder member Graham Gouldman who says, in those days, the Top Of The Pops studio was like a second home.
