The phone-in at 9, 'Do dog owners need to be more responsible?'
Owners of dangerous dogs will face tougher punishments from today following recommendations from the Sentencing Council. Judges and magistrates are being instructed to hand out harsher punishments after a rise in the number of people being sentenced for dangerous dog offences. Trevor Cooper, legal expert for the Dog's Trust, says "This tougher approach should serve as a stiff reminder to dog owners to keep their pets under proper control and to behave responsibly."
