The Charge of the Light Brigade - an eyewitness account
In a letter home to his younger brother, Richard Temple Godman describes witnessing the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854.
Temple Godman was a young cavalry officer in the 5th Dragoon Guards during the Crimean War. Over the course of his two year campaign, he regularly sent letters home to his family at Park Hatch in Surrey. His messages give a fascinating glimpse into life on the frontline in the Crimea.
