Michele Roberts - 'Middle Class hero' and D. H. Lawrence - 'Desire'
On a spoof TV show about love, Lily Savage sets writers D. H. Lawrence and Michele Roberts up on a blind date and then finds out how they got on. Michele Roberts tells her side of the story through her poem, 'Middle Class Hero', which was written in 1986. The reading of the poem is illustrated with views of Lawrence fixing his motorbike as Michele looks on. D. H. Lawrence puts his side of the story by reciting his poem 'Desire' to the camera.
