Police to make parts of Ipswich a Dispersal Area

An area of Ipswich, plagued by anti-social behaviour, has now been designated as a Dispersal Area giving police special powers to move on groups of young people.

Police are cracking down on anti social behaviour in Ipswich by making parts of the town a Dispersal Area. The zone covers streets between London Road and Bramford Road. Police say there have been nearly 250 incidents since March, involving youth nuisance, alcohol, drugs and urinating in public. Lesley speaks to Superintendent Martin Ransome from Ipswich Policing Command.

This afternoon Downing Street insisted that the coalition will stick to its commitment not to go ahead with it.
