Cities grow upwards and outwards (pt 2/2 - no narration)
An explanation of the growth of Gloucester from the 1940s to the present day, focusing on suburban growth and regeneration of inner city areas. The war put a temporary halt on Gloucester's growth. After the war new suburban estates developed rapidly and the old city centre and factory area was replaced by high rise shops, flats and offices. From the 1980s onwards the emphasis was on both regeneration of inner city sites such as the docks, and greenfield developments of modern suburban housing. No narration.
