New scanning and imaging technologies has revolutionised surgery over the last 20 years. Techniques like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and keyhole surgery have made procedures quicker, more efficient and less intrusive. However, doctors are increasingly moving away from costly surgical intervention and back to drug treatment.
