Glaciers shrink as global temperatures rise
Oxygen-18 is an isotope associated with warmer climates, and by measuring the levels of this isotope within ice cores, scientists can examine changes in past climates.
Average annual temperatures over the past one hundred years have been increasing, causing glaciers to shrink. Iceland鈥檚 glaciers are ancient, and their ice records can be traced back over thousands of years.
