Weather fronts

Over the Atlantic, warm and cold air masses meet. The two air masses do not mix easily and the weather can become unstable as a result. When warm and cold air meet a weather front is formed. As the warm air rises, the pressure falls and the weather deteriorates. Occluded fronts form where cold air forces warm air to rise high into the atmosphere. Tall cumulonimbus clouds bring heavy storms below the occluded front. With thanks to Clouds Hill Imaging.
