Preservation Hall comes to New York City

A selection of the best in jazz music.

The ‘traditional’ jazz of America is being kept alive by bands like the Preservation Hall Jazz Band plus they are ensuring that the music they are playing now will live on with younger musicians. The concert at Carnegie Hall in January was beneficial to the Preservation Hall Outreach Programme. Also in tonight’s show there is an example of Charlie Parker with strings in the early fifties presented by Norman Granz. There’s some scat singing from Frank Holder who was singing with big names in the fifties and is still singing sixty years plus later. There is also Louis Armstrong and the All Stars, Pete Allen and Cannonball Adderley plus a few more through the show.
