Essex Police name family devastated in Harlow house fire
Police in Essex say a house fire which claimed the lives of four children and their mother may have been started deliberately. A fifth child is being treated in hospital.
In the news hour from 5pm, Essex Police have named the family devastated by a house fire in Harlow in the early hours today, Dr Sabah Usmani was killed alongside four of her children - her thirteen year old daughter Hira and her three sons, eleven year old Sohaib, Muneeb who was nine and six year old Rayan. Her youngest daughter, three year old Maheen, is seriously ill in hospital. Dr Usmani's husband, Abdul Shakour, is also in hospital after suffering serious effects from breathing in smoke. We hear from Assistant Chief Constable Gary Beautridge, the head of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
Foz hears from the NSPCC which is calling for urgent action to stamp out the illegal trade in images of child abuse. Figures reveal 29 arrests were made in Suffolk last year. The number of indecent pictures in circulation has exploded since the Internet became hugely popular.
A survey by the TUC has revealed that long term youth unemployment has gone up by 40% since the coalition government came to power two years ago. Their figures show the East of England has seen the second largest increase in the country after the North West, with 11,300 extra 16 to 24 year-olds out of work for six months or longer.
