Suffolk County Council hands care homes to private firm Care UK

Suffolk councillors have handed the county's care homes to a private firm. Care UK will replace the current 16 sites with 10 new state-of-the-art centres.

In the news hour from 5pm, Suffolk County Council has unanimously approved plans to pass their 16 residential homes to private firm Care UK. 10 new care homes will be built and then residents will move before the original sites are closed. Rachel speaks to Colin Noble, the Suffolk county councillor in charge of health and adult care, as well as Care UK's Director of Nursing, Frances Gibson.

Two of the candidates for Police and Crime Commissioner in Suffolk have been quizzed for the first time. They took part in a hustings in Ipswich organised by the charity Victim Support. The elections, which take place next month, will be the first of their kind for police forces and will create some of the most powerfully elected people in the country. Our reporter Alison Acton has been looking at the elections. Rachel asks her what a Police and Crime Commissioner is?
