Ceramicist Grayson Perry
Ceramicist Grayson Perry demonstrates how he makes his ceramic pots and the research that he does before illustrating his creations. He demonstrates building up a coil pot, working on 10 at a time. When the pot becomes leather-hard he carves into it and finalises the shape. Grayson uses paper stencils and slip - liquid clay mixed with various oxides to create different colours. He discusses the importance of visiting galleries and doing research, and explains the importance of organisation and planning. He stresses how important it is not to be frightened of making mistakes.
