Hindus and the environment
Krishna is one of the most worshiped Hindu gods; he is one of the forms that Vishnu the Preserver takes. He is usually shown wearing a peacock feather and playing his flute in the sacred forest groves around Vrindavan. Today, Vrindavan is the centre of ISKON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, better known as the Hare Krishna movement. As Krishna was a cow herder, his followers also show a great respect for cows and they are central to their religious beliefs and practices.
