Rainfall and flooding around the world
There are variations in rainfall across Britain and in different parts of the world. Cumbria and the northwest of England are wetter than the east of England. Too much rain causes rivers to flood. We usually get flood warnings in Britain, but occasionally there are bad floods which threaten lives and damage homes. In other parts of the world, such as India and Bangladesh, there can be many weeks of rain. People have learned to live with the weather. After many weeks of hot weather, people look forward to cooler rainy days.
