Negative numbers (signed)
A diver is used to illustrate the concept of a negative number scale. The surface of the diver's swimming pool is set to 0 on the measuring scale and the diver travels from plus 10 metres at the top of his dive to minus 6 metres at the bottom of the pool before rising up 6 metres back to surface level.
