Baisakhi in the gurdwara

We are taken into the gurdwara to see aspects of worship and celebration during the festival of Baisakhi (also known as Vaisakhi). Heads are covered and shoes removed as a sign of respect, and the equality of all is symbolised in the shared meal (langar).Five men take on the role of the first Sikhs (Panj piare), the Five Beloved Ones, the flagpole is washed with milk for the new year and the Granth is read from cover to cover over two days and nights. The holy book, the Granth is considered to be the last living Guru and is treated with great respect, even being put to bed at nights.
