Exploring mixed heritage, religion and politics in the Middle East (pt 1/7)
Reya El-Salahi goes to Israel to explore her mixed Afro-Arab Muslim and Jewish heritage. When she lands in Israel, she encounters problems getting through passport control due to the colour of her skin, but once in the country, she explores the history of Israel. Meeting young Israelis in Tel Aviv allows Reya to understand what life is like for young people in Israel. The underlying threat of violence against Islamic terrorism is a constant concern for Reya.
This is the personal journey of presenter Reya El-Salahi and also features contributors with extreme religious and political views. It deals with conflict in Israel and the Middle East from both the Jewish Israeli and Palestinian Arab sides. Issues of race, religion and contentious politics are explored.
