The building of a motorway bridge in Belfast
Belfast is a busy city and traffic flows into it from all over Northern Ireland. At peak times, it used to get very congested. A new road bridge and rail link joining the north and east areas was required. Construction commenced with supports for the main structure being sunk into the bed of the River Lagan. Now the road system of the M3 bridge filters sixty thousand vehicles away from Belfast's streets and allows them to move on to other major routes.
