The Newry bypass, Northern Ireland

Newry in Northern Ireland has been an important staging post between Belfast and Dublin for many years. Traffic in the town was regularly brought to a standstill and something had to be done. Road planners decided to build a bypass around the town. It was an expensive project and took seven years to complete. Sensors built into the road record the vehicles using it, as well as their speed. This helps planners make decisions for the future.
