Where did the Romans come from?
While the original Romans came from Rome, by the time the Roman Army invaded Britain it was made up of soldiers from across the Roman Empire. The empire stretched across Europe to the Middle East and Africa. There is evidence that the Emperor Claudius brought elephants to Britain with his troops. There is also evidence of African pottery being used in what is now Scotland.
