Palaeontologist Professor Richard Fortey reveals the hidden secrets of the fascinating and surprising world of rock pools.

The constantly changing environment of a rock pool creates one of the most hostile places to live on earth. Dramatic fluctuations in moisture, temperature and salinity all have to be overcome by the rock pool inhabitants in order to survive.

Professor Fortey is joined by some of the UK's leading marine biologists to take a detailed look at how some of these remarkable rock pool creatures cope with their ever-changing world - from how limpets fend off marauding starfish to how hermit crabs choose their shells.
