Spheres, cubes and cuboids

An introduction to the properties and uses of spheres and cubes. A sphere has no point, no edges and just one curved face; whichever way it turns it looks exactly the same. Peas, tomatoes, oranges, globes and scoops of ice cream are all spheres.

Different shapes are good for different things. Spheres are very good for rolling and playing football, but they are not good for building walls. Cuboids are better for building, but you couldn't play football with a cuboid. Cubes and cuboids are good at stacking and leave no gaps, whereas it is very difficult to stack a sphere!
