The Sanema people of Venezuela
An introduction to the Sanema people of Venezuela, looking at aspects of daily life in the Sanema villages. The rainforests are home to an estimated 50 million indigenous people. Two thirds of the Amazon is in Brazil, but it also spans other countries. The Sanema live on the banks of the Caura river in southern Venezuela. They used to be nomadic but they now settle in villages and the Sanema society is highly ordered. The climate is hot and it rains every day. Food is plentiful.
