Tony Blackburn launched Radio 1 in 1967 and recently received a lifetime achievement award for broadcasting.
He told Richard Bacon that although there were rumours at the time surrounding the behaviour of his colleague Jimmy Savile, there was no proof at the time of his offending and no cover-up by others.
鈥淩umours, rumours, rumours but you can鈥檛 go and report somebody when you haven鈥檛 seen anybody do anything wrong, it would be wrong,鈥 said Mr Blackburn.
